The UK hotel that buyers, GMs and senior executives default to for the room, the meeting space, and the consistency
London is unique in its concentration of corporate demand, and the UK regional market – Manchester, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Glasgow, has matured into a credible secondary set of corporate-travel destinations supported by serious investment from international brands and the country’s strongest independents.
The Best UK Hotel award, part of the Travelling for Business Awards 2026, recognises a single property, not a brand, that buyers, GMs and senior executives default to. It is the property the corporate buyer puts on the preferred-supplier list, the GM who books in for the client dinner, and the senior team who hosts the board offsite. The Best UK Hotel sits at the intersection of business-stay, meeting and entertaining venue, and judges weigh all three together.
Eligible entries are single hotels operating in the UK at any star rating, independent or branded. Brand-level entries enter the separate Best Luxury Hotel Brand, Best Upscale Hotel Brand or Best Budget Hotel Brand categories.
Judging is grounded in submitted evidence and cross-referenced with STR UK hotel performance data and UKHospitality industry reporting alongside the panel’s own usage. Corporate rate consistency, meeting and event delivery, entertaining and dining proposition, and service recovery are all weighed. The 2026 award also takes explicit account of the property’s sustainability operations and reporting against UK and international frameworks.
The judging panel includes UK-based travel buyers and senior corporate hosts. Properties supporting UK conference and event business often also feature in entries to Best MICE Destination UK, and editorial coverage runs through Travelling for Business magazine. Single-sponsor opportunity available – see sponsorship.
The Best UK Hotel award is judged on what corporate buyers, GMs and senior executives actually use the property for. Corporate rate programmes and their consistency week to week head the criteria, does the last-room-available rate actually hold? Meeting and event facilities are weighed for capacity, technology and the way the property handles client-facing days. Restaurant, bar and entertaining spaces matter because business travel is rarely just sleep-and-leave. Wellness and gym are judged on real usability, not the brochure. Service recovery, what happens when something goes wrong, is part of the assessment, alongside the property's sustainability operations and reporting.
