Best MICE Destination UK 2026

The UK destination winning the meetings, incentives, conferences and events business

Enter this category Sponsor this category

The UK MICE market is one of the most competitive in the world. London continues to operate at scale across every event tier, but the regional UK destinations.

Manchester, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Glasgow, Brighton, Belfast, have matured into credible bid contenders for the kinds of corporate conferences, incentive programmes and large meetings that used to be assumed for London. The Best MICE Destination UK award recognises the destination winning that competition on the bid sheet, not the brochure.

Part of the Travelling for Business Awards 2026, the category is open to UK cities, regions, convention bureaus and DMOs with a credible record of winning and delivering corporate MICE business. Entry is open to public-sector destination organisations and the venues that lead bids on their behalf.

Judging is grounded in measurable bid economics: venue capacity and the depth of the meeting and conference inventory, hotel inventory at preferred rates, air and rail access from the markets corporate planners book from, the public realm and after-hours offer for delegates, and the convention bureau’s subvention and bid support package. Industry data from VisitBritain Business Events and ICCA destination rankings informs the panel’s view alongside submitted evidence and reporting in Travelling for Business magazine.

The award sits alongside Best MICE Destination Europe and Best MICE Destination Rest of the World,— each judged independently. UK hotels supporting MICE delivery typically also enter Best UK Hotel.

The 2026 judging panel includes corporate event planners and bid leaders. Sponsorship details: sponsorship.

What we look for

The Best MICE Destination UK 2026 judging criteria.

UK MICE destinations are judged on the bid sheet, not the tourism brochure. Venue capacity and choice, the convention centre, flexible secondary venues, the hotel ballrooms, head the criteria, alongside hotel inventory deep enough to absorb delegate volumes at preferred rates. Air and rail access from the markets corporate planners book from is weighted, because connectivity decides bid economics. The public realm, walkability, evening offer, safety, is assessed for the after-hours delegate experience. Subvention and bid support from the convention bureau closes the set: how easy does the destination make it to choose them, and how well does it deliver once chosen?
