2026 Travelling for Business Awards, and it holds a distinction no rival on this list can claim: it is the conference venue its delegates sleep inside. As one of Europe's largest conference hotels, the Metropole stacks over a thousand bedrooms directly above an events estate of ballroom-to-boardroom scale — a vertical campus where a three-day congress never needs a coach transfer, an umbrella or a delayed delegate excuse.
The recent transformation is the story organisers now book on. A sweeping renovation carried the hotel's bedrooms, public spaces and event floors into contemporary form, crowned by headline spaces engineered for the full modern brief: broadcast-ready plenaries, exhibition-capable flat floors, a run of mid-size rooms for breakouts and boards, and the catering machinery to feed thousands without the buffet queue becoming the plenary topic. The operational advantage compounds through the stay — organisers negotiate one contract, one team and one bill for beds, space and banqueting, which finance departments notice approvingly. Sustainability credentials and accessibility provision were rebuilt alongside the aesthetics, answering the questions modern RFPs ask first rather than last.
Position seals the argument. Edgware Road and Paddington put the hotel minutes from the Heathrow Express, the Elizabeth line and the West End, making it the natural landing zone for international association business — a venue where a delegate can land at Heathrow and be badge-collected within the hour.
