Best Airline Lounge 2026

The lounge product corporate travellers don't want to leave

The airline lounge has quietly become one of the most contested pieces of real estate in corporate travel.

Premium passenger volumes are above pre-pandemic levels on most major hubs, status thresholds have tightened, and the third-party access market has put more travellers through the same doors than ever before. The result is a capacity question that increasingly defines whether a lounge delivers on its promise, or simply photographs well.

The Best Airline Lounge award, part of the Travelling for Business Awards 2026, recognises the carrier-run lounge that delivers at peak against the corporate traveller’s actual needs. Capacity discipline, food and beverage credibility, workspace and connectivity, and a clear, fair access policy are the spine of the assessment.

Eligible entries include flagship hubs, regional outstations and partner-operated airline lounges. Carriers may submit a single flagship lounge or a network of products, with the judging panel assessing whichever demonstrates the strongest, most consistent corporate-traveller experience. Independent and contract-operated lounges enter the separate Best Third-Party Lounge category.

Industry benchmarking from Skytrax airline lounge ratings and the published lounge access programmes is referenced alongside submitted evidence and lounge reporting in Travelling for Business magazine. GBTA traveller research on lounge usage informs the panel’s view on the realities of peak-hour demand.

This award is closely associated with Best Business Class Experience and Best Airport in the World, where host-airline and host-airport performance combine into a single end-to-end through-airport experience.

Sponsorship of the Best Airline Lounge category is open on a single-sponsor basis, see the sponsorship page.

What we look for

The Best Airline Lounge 2026 judging criteria.

Judges weigh airline lounges head-on, including the difficult questions most awards avoid. Capacity against demand at peak comes first, does the lounge deliver at 0700 on a Monday, not just at 1500 on a Tuesday? Food, beverage and the dining proposition come next, judged against the cabin paid for. Workspace and connectivity are assessed for the traveller who turned up to work, not to drink. Showers, wellness and quiet sleeping space matter more on transfer hubs. Access policy, status, paid, partner, third-party programmes, is evaluated for clarity and fairness, because crowding starts with how the door is managed.
