About this entry

Why Maybourne was shortlisted.

Maybourne is a Finalist for Best Luxury Hotel Brand at the 2026 Travelling for Business Awards, and its hand is arguably the strongest in world hotelkeeping: Claridge's, The Connaught and The Berkeley — three London institutions that would each anchor a lesser company — now joined by a new generation that has turned a guardianship into a brand. Few groups anywhere hold this concentration of genuinely legendary property; none holds it in one city.

The London estate alone would justify the nomination. The group's stewardship has kept its grandes dames at the top of their powers through meticulous, near-invisible investment, while The Emory — the capital's first all-suite house, rising glassily above Knightsbridge — showed the family could build a modern icon from scratch. It arrived making its own rules: witness the partnership with Flexjet offering guests inclusive arrivals by helicopter, touching down from Nice or the country estate straight into Belgravia — an amenity that tells the target market exactly who the hotel is for.

The international chapter is maturing fast. The Maybourne Riviera hangs above Monaco with the Mediterranean at its feet, and in California Travelling for Business found the Maybourne Beverly Hills a study in where art and luxury converge — the London service religion transplanted to sunnier latitudes without losing its accent. The collection remains small by design, which keeps the group's defining asset intact: staff cultures of extraordinary depth, where bartenders and butlers are institutions in their own right.

For senior business travellers, Maybourne means the safest of hands at the sharpest of addresses — hotels where the world's most demanding clientele is the ordinary Tuesday crowd. The Connaught's bar and the Blue Bar at the Berkeley remain fixtures of London's deal-making evening, and the group's restaurants hold court at the top of the capital's dining order. The nomination recognises a company that took perfection as its inheritance and chose expansion anyway, on its own exacting terms. Growth has been selective enough that each new address strengthens the old ones rather than borrowing from them.

Winners will be announced at the 2026 Travelling for Business Awards, and whatever the verdict, somewhere in Mayfair a martini will be poured correctly.
