Cathay Pacific Premium Economy is a Finalist for Best Premium Economy Experience at the
2026 Travelling for Business Awards, and its nomination reflects both heritage and renewal. The Hong Kong carrier was among the earliest Asian adopters of the middle cabin, and as its fleet undergoes the most comprehensive redesign in the airline's history, premium economy is being rebuilt alongside the headline suites rather than left behind by them.
The new-generation cabin is arriving on the refreshed Boeing 777-300ERs, where an all-new premium economy seat debuts in step with the flagship business product — wider, better bolstered, with bigger high-resolution screens, more considered stowage and calmer, warmer cabin design language borrowed from the airline's lounges. The whole-fleet transformation has been shaped with JPA Design in a
landmark project spanning branding to interiors, which is why the premium economy cabin feels of a piece with the aircraft around it rather than an inserted afterthought. Passengers notice the coherence in small ways — lighting that shifts with the meal service, textiles that echo the lounge palette, a cabin that feels curated rather than assembled.
The service carries the upgrade. Dedicated cabin crew, a menu a genuine step beyond economy, and the airline's quietly precise Asian service style suit the cabin's core customer: the long-haul traveller flying on a controlled budget who still needs to land in working order. On the London–Hong Kong trunk route — served double daily — premium economy has become the pragmatic corporate pick, and the network keeps widening as
new European destinations including Munich and Brussels join the map, spreading the cabin across more one-stop itineraries to Asia-Pacific.
There is also the reassurance of trajectory. With more than HK$100 billion committed to fleet, cabins and service, the premium economy passenger is a direct beneficiary of an investment programme few airlines can match, and the early results — from punctuality to product consistency — are visible in the seat.
A place among the 2026 Finalists honours a premium economy pioneer that has chosen reinvention over maintenance. Winners will be announced at the 2026 Travelling for Business Awards, and Cathay Pacific's middle cabin enters the contest looking newer than most rivals' flagships.
