About this entry

Why Rosewood was shortlisted.

Rosewood is a Finalist for Best Luxury Hotel Brand at the 2026 Travelling for Business Awards, and no nominee has shaped the last decade of luxury hospitality more visibly. While older houses traded on heritage, Rosewood built a philosophy — A Sense of Place — and enforced it with unusual discipline: no two properties alike, each rooted in its location's architecture, culture and rhythm, with the brand present in standards rather than surfaces. The result is a collection the industry studies and the design press cannot leave alone.

The portfolio reads like a modern grand tour. Hôtel de Crillon in Paris and The Carlyle in New York give the group two of the world's genuinely iconic addresses; Rosewood London holds the brand's British flag in Holborn's old Pearl Assurance headquarters; and the expansion east and south keeps producing landmarks rather than fill-ins. Travelling for Business found elegance and history intertwined at Rosewood Munich, the palatial German debut, while at the other end of the map the award of three Michelin Keys to Rosewood Luang Prabang placed the Laotian hideaway among the world's most exclusive hotels — evidence the standard holds from European capital to Mekong hillside.

For business travellers, Rosewood's appeal is atmosphere with infrastructure underneath. Houses in London, Hong Kong, Bangkok and São Paulo sit squarely in commercial districts; suites and private spaces handle the discreet meeting as naturally as the celebration; and the service register — assured, unstuffy, quietly young — matches the way senior travel actually feels now, rather than how it felt a generation ago. Bars and restaurants carry the same intent — the Crillon's courtyards, the Carlyle's Bemelmans — places with gravitational pull for the cities around them, which is precisely what a working dinner wants.

Run from Hong Kong and still family-led, the group has kept its founding conviction while scaling it globally, and the momentum shows no sign of flattening. The nomination recognises the brand that made individuality a system — and made the system work. Few brands are studied harder by their competitors, and none wears the attention as lightly.

Winners will be announced at the 2026 Travelling for Business Awards, and wherever the news lands, it will be received with a sense of place.
