About this entry

Why Dorchester Collection was shortlisted.

Dorchester Collection is a Finalist for Best Luxury Hotel Brand at the 2026 Travelling for Business Awards, and its portfolio needs no adjectives — only listing. The Dorchester and 45 Park Lane in London, Coworth Park in Ascot's polo country, Le Meurice and Hôtel Plaza Athénée in Paris, Hotel Principe di Savoia in Milan, Hotel Eden in Rome, The Beverly Hills Hotel and Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles, and The Lana in Dubai: a collection assembled not by acquisition sprees but by the slow accumulation of legends, then maintained to a standard that treats each as irreplaceable — because each is.

Custodianship is the brand's real product. The group's hotels are institutions with civic weight — the Promenade at The Dorchester, the pink stucco of Sunset Boulevard, the ateliers' canteen at Plaza Athénée — and the company invests accordingly, restoring rather than reformatting. The recent English example is telling: Coworth Park's new Stable Suites and Cottages, designed by Martin Hulbert, extend the country house through its historic stableyard with the same patience the group applies to Parisian palaces. Growth, when it comes, is singular — The Lana gave the collection its Middle Eastern debut as a purpose-built landmark rather than a flag of convenience.

For business travellers the collection operates at the diplomatic tier: hotels where heads of state, studio chiefs and sovereign funds are the working clientele, with the discretion, security fluency and event grandeur that tier demands. Ballrooms host the seasons' defining dinners; suites host the negotiations behind them. The service depth is generational: concierges who have handled forty years of premieres, banqueting teams who know the difference between a gala and a summit, florists with their own following. Loyalty runs long on both sides of the front desk.

What the judges' nomination recognises is stewardship as strategy — a group that could monetise its names endlessly and instead protects them fiercely, keeping ten of the world's benchmark addresses at benchmark standard. Travelling for Business has long treated the collection's houses as reference points when measuring rivals, which is its own quiet tribute. Winners will be announced at the 2026 Travelling for Business Awards, and whatever the evening brings, the Promenade will serve tea at four regardless.
