Emirates arrives at the
2026 Travelling for Business Awards as a Finalist for Best Long-Haul Airline, bringing with it the weight of the world's largest widebody operation. No carrier offers UK business travellers more long-haul capacity, and few match the consistency with which it is delivered.
The scale is the story. Emirates serves eight UK airports — Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, Newcastle and Edinburgh — with daily widebody departures feeding its Dubai hub, where the network opens out across Asia, Australasia, Africa and the Americas. Heathrow alone is scheduled for 48 weekly flights this winter, while Gatwick has grown to four daily services including the airline's newest aircraft type, the Airbus A350. For regional travellers, a nonstop widebody from their local airport rather than a positioning flight to London remains a rare and valuable thing.
The A380 sits at the heart of the operation, and Emirates has committed to it for the long term:
the superjumbo will fly with the airline into the 2040s, with the active fleet expanding to around 110 aircraft and a
multi-billion-dollar retrofit programme refreshing interiors and extending the four-class layout, including its well-received premium economy cabin, across more of the fleet. Onboard, the ICE entertainment system and consistent service delivery remain reference points for the industry, while complimentary chauffeur-drive for premium passengers extends the experience to the kerb.
For corporate bookers, Emirates' appeal is practical as much as glamorous: frequency and capacity mean seats are available when plans change, schedules over Dubai are built for efficient connections eastbound and westbound alike, and the product is predictable from Newcastle to Auckland. Dubai's position — within eight hours' flying of most of the world's population — makes the hub a natural pivot for itineraries spanning Asia, Africa and Australasia, while the Skywards programme and a dense partner network add further value for travel managers consolidating spend. That dependability, delivered at extraordinary scale, is what has earned the airline its place among the 2026 Finalists.
The category is a strong one, and the winners will be announced at the 2026 Travelling for Business Awards. However the judging falls, Emirates' combination of reach, capacity and continual reinvestment makes it central to any conversation about long-haul excellence.
