The United Polaris Suite and Studio is a Finalist for Best Business Class Experience at the
2026 Travelling for Business Awards, and it represents the boldest premium swing any US carrier has taken in years. With the
Elevated interior on its newest Boeing 787-9s, United has stopped chasing the global benchmarks and started setting a few of its own.
The new Polaris Suite brings what transatlantic regulars have long asked of American business class: a privacy door on every suite, a true flat bed, and the largest seatback screens fitted by any US airline, running an entertainment system built for both bingeing and working. Ahead of it sits the Polaris Studio — a row of enlarged suites with extra lounging space, a companion seat for in-flight meetings and a level of finish aimed squarely at the international flagships. Caviar service in the Studio makes the ambition explicit before the doors even close: this is an American carrier competing on luxury, not just lie-flat geometry.
The soft product is moving in step. United has launched
chef-curated Polaris menus inspired by global food cities, refreshing dining across the fleet, while Polaris lounges at its hub airports — with their à la carte restaurants and rest suites — remain among the best business-class grounds experiences offered by any US airline. Saks Fifth Avenue bedding and refreshed amenities carry the brand through the night flight to a gentler landing.
And the interior is not a showpiece confined to a subfleet: United plans it across scores of incoming deliveries, while existing Polaris cabins retain the all-aisle-access standard that reset US expectations in 2016.
Deployment favours the UK. The new Dreamliners are being introduced on flagship international routes including London, meaning Heathrow travellers meet the Elevated interior early rather than years into the rollout, with Starlink connectivity spreading across the fleet on a parallel track.
A place among the 2026 Finalists recognises a genuine changing of expectations: the question is no longer whether US business class can match the global elite, but how quickly United can build enough of it. Winners will be announced at the 2026 Travelling for Business Awards, and the Polaris Suite and Studio give the category its most watched newcomer.
