world's first smartphone express bag-drop service, letting departing passengers tag and drop luggage in seconds without touching a kiosk — emblematic of a wider automation push spanning biometric journeys, autonomous vehicles and robotics that is quietly rewriting the airport's processes end to end. The premium ground experience keeps pace: the airport's flagship lounges have been renewed one by one, including the
elevated dining experience unveiled in The Pier's First lounge, while SKYCITY's retail, dining and entertainment build-out gives layovers a destination of their own.
For UK corporates, the airport's rhythm suits the working itinerary: overnight arrivals clear formalities quickly, showers and lounges reset the body clock, and the return red-eye departs from calm, efficient gates. Baggage reliability and punctuality figures have recovered strongly with the operation's full relaunch, restoring the confidence that made HKG a default transfer choice for a generation of travellers — and the runway headroom now exists for the network to grow well beyond its previous peak.
